VALUE ENGINEERING (VE)/ VALUE MANAGEMENT (VM)

OBJECTIVE:

The objective of the program is to equip participants with basic theory and step by step hands on practice so as to enable them to carry out Value Management activities in their organization to improve profitability. This will be accomplished by Applying VE principles to identify the un- necessary cost in the Products, Processes and Systems, and reducing/ eliminating it.

VE and VM are basically same, but different terminology has been used by Engineering ans Management disciplines.

WHAT IS VALUE?

Value is a measure of satisfaction derived by a customer out of a product or service, which has been designed, produced and delivered in conformance to measurable standards that reflect, stated or implied customer needs.

WHAT IS VALUE MANAGEMENT (V.M.)?

VM is a discipline comprising a well-defined system of a series of techniques directed at

·         Identifying the function of a product, service, equipment, process or procedure;

·         Establishing a value of these functions,

·         Generating ideas through creative approach to perform them at lowest possible cost while maintaining same or improved quality, and thus ensuring the best value.

WHY V.M.?

The globalization and W.T.O. have thrown challenges on survival of businesses. The Chinese goods are flooding the markets with low priced, yet reasonable quality products. Today’s modern, competitive business environment demands specific tangible controls on cost and improvements in quality…which could mean difference between the winner and plodders. Winners will choose to train their people for cost consciousness and other benefits through V.M.

WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE?

   C.E.O.’s, Unit Heads of organizations dealing in manufacturing or marketing of Products or Services

   Heads of different functions in the manufacturing, marketing, financing, procurement, Engineering, Design etc.

   Line managers/Supervisors, workers and everyone who is consuming money/resources.
